Your island home away from home
Our Rooms
Standing at the water’s edge on Orcas Island, the Orcas Hotel has welcomed travelers for generations. This authentic, historic inn offers an intimate 10-room retreat where guests are treated like friends of the family. Each room tells its own story through carefully curated curiosities and treasures, making you feel comfortably at home while you’re away.
With space for 1 to 4 guests, our rooms offer vintage charm and modern comfort in equal measure: cozy bedding, stunning views, and the rare quiet found only on a small island.
An Orcas Island Landmark
Hotel History
The pull that brought travelers here a hundred years ago is the same one we feel today: a desire to slow down and let the rhythm of the tides replace the ticking of clocks. The hotel opened in 1904 at the ferry landing, and it’s been here ever since, witnessing the arrivals and departures, feeding islanders, and giving people a reason to linger at what a 1946 poem called “Orcas Island – Ultima Thule,” the edge of the world.
The beauty and stillness that drew those early visitors haven’t changed. Neither has the building’s Victorian bones. What has changed: the rooms now have private bathrooms, the café serves delicious food with views of the Salish Sea, and the grounds are worth wandering whether you’re staying with us or just waiting for the next boat.
Effortlessly Charming Event Venue
Weddings & Events
The Orcas Hotel hosts private events on-site and catering across Orcas Island. We have indoor and outdoor spaces with front-row views of the Salish Sea, custom menus for any time of day, and the easiest access on the island—your guests step off the ferry right onto our property. Room blocks are available for multi-day celebrations.
Your Orcas Island Guides
At Orcas Hotel, hospitality is both an art and a pleasure. We’re here to make your stay seamless and personal—whether that means sharing our favorite dinner spots, pointing you toward hidden trails, or simply being a helpful presence. No request is too small. Consider us your island insiders and let us help you discover the best of this remarkable place.
As the largest of the San Juan Islands, Orcas Island offers winding shorelines, forested hills, and charming villages and hamlets surrounded by the waters of the Salish Sea. Guests come for the beauty and stay for the experiences: stumbling on farm stands with fresh flowers and produce, spotting a whale from our porch, participating in our many parades and festivals, kayaking hidden coves, swimming and hiking in Moran State Park. But the real gift? Permission to slow down and find the space to simply be.
